Introduction

Hey everyone, today I will be discussing about a special kind and also the latest new hero, Argus. Are you wondering what he is capable of? He can solo hard carry games, be an unstoppable killing machine, almost impossible to kill, immortal. I will explain further why Argus is so strong in the current state. Argus also has been the most fun and coolest hero I have ever played.

Lore

Argus and Rafaela were heavenly angels that descended into the land of dawn at the same time. One responsible for eradicating evil, the other for eradicating suffering. As Argus went through countless battles, he soon became obsessed with the pursuit of power. One time during a battle he heard the call of an ancient being, Argus soon lost control of his ambitions and became corrupted. He was able to break the seal of the ancient being to summon forth a blazing demonic blade. By sacrificing his own life to the blade was able to gain even more power. Now Argus wanders the world, seeking conflict and war so that he can consume more lives with his blade.

Abilities

Warmonger (Passive): Taking or dealing damage will charge the demonic blade (the lower the health is, the faster the blade charges), when fully charged Argus’s next basic attack will be two quick basic attacks.

  • Because of this ability, we are able to abused it by building a lot of damage items with critical strikes.
  • More attack speed = more procs = more damage

Demonic Grip: Pulls out a demonic hand at the targeted direction, dealing 175 physical damage to an enemy hero and moving to the front of target on hit, then he is able to make a quick slash towards the enemy, dealing 125 physical damage. If it doesn’t hit the enemy hero, he pulls himself to the location.

  • Manual aiming is recommended, especially when not in a straight direction, the ability tends to miss without manual aiming.
  • You can use this ability to move around the map quickly, this ability purpose is for gap-closing and mobility, then damage.
  • Max this first for lesser cooldown if you want more mobility and gap closing.

Demonic Blade: After a short period of charging, Argus strikes the enemy with his demonic blade, dealing 400 physical damage and cursing the enemy for 5s. Moving enemy under curse effect leaves a curse trail that grants Argus extra movement speed while he is moving on it.

  • Manual aiming is recommended, especially when not in a straight direction, the ability tends to miss without manual aiming.
  • This ability base damage is very high, it deals a lot of damage, way more than I expected.
  • It’s important to hit with this ability for the movement speed for gap-closing and chasing.

Eternal Evil (Ultimate): Transform into a fallen angel, becoming immune to death for 5s. 40% damage dealt under spell effect is converted to Argus’s HP after the duration ends.

  • This is very powerful ultimate, because of the game’s nature, people auto-aims low HP targets (especially newbies or people who don’t change their settings). Which means everyone in the teamfight is going to aim you while you soaks all damage, protecting your team and heals back to full HP.
  • This ability grants you a safe passage to diving enemy under turrets, tank first if you are with a teammate or teammates.
  • The damage from turrets doesn’t heal you! Beware of that.
  • It’s important to use in a perfect timing. Use too quick, and it won’t be much effective. Use too late, and you might die, getting stunned and/or crowd controlled, unable to use your ultimate.

Items & Battle Spells Explained

There will be two similar path, full damage, just different items priority. It’s up to you.

For this, you will be getting lifesteal and more damage first, more sustain early on, damage isn’t too bad. Lifesteal works very well with Argus’s passive double hit as well. Followed up with critical damage items for huge damage boosts.

This would be the Scarlet Phantom first build. Huge attack speed boost, decent damage, faster clear speed. It’s really amazing. You could even follow up with Berserker’s Fury instead of Haas’s Claw for insane damage boost early on. Your survivability without lifesteal early game isn’t too bad, you have your ultimate to survive most of the fights.

Argus’s is mainly focus on basic attacks, the more you attack, the more your passive procs, and more damage of course. You may not want to being stop by crowd controls. With Purify, you can be unstoppable.

If you would like more offense options, Inspire is fine. Or even Retribution to farm quickly early on.

Game Plan & Final Conclusion

Your goal is to carry your team, which requires you a huge gold lead. For early game, you can start with a 250g jungle item if you like. Best choice of laning would be side lanes either top or mid with a support/tank/crowd control hero, especially with a friend. It’ll be much more fun to play with a friend than with a stranger. Start farming your lanes, jungle, repeat look for kill potential, your early game is slightly strong. I wouldn’t recommend roaming into mid lane for gank, it’s really almost impossible to kill the enemy mid laner before they actually ran under their turret. Unless you are with a friend, you can gank together. Otherwise, stay in the jungle, farm, repeat and invade enemy jungle, you could escape pretty easily with your first ability.

When you reach level 4, you can look for a chance to dive an enemy hero. Especially a 2v1 in your favor, tank first, save your first ability for escape if needed, use your ultimate whenever you are dying but remember, Argus’s ultimate doesn’t heal the damage taken from turret.

Let’s talk about end game. You can do many different things to win the game.

First, you can split push and look for objectives such as Lord, Turtle and turrets. You can easily solo Lord but it might take some time. You can easily 1v3 if you are really ahead. If you do, it’s usually a victory.

If your team is looking for a 5v5 teamfight, don’t hesitate to engage first. It’s okay to go in first because of your ultimate. You can use Demonic Grip into the enemy carries and start basic attacking them, most of the time the enemies will try to fight back, and whenever you are low enough, the enemies would start auto-aiming you. That’s a perfect timing to use your ultimate, Eternal Evil. Soaks up all the damage, returns to full HP, and end the game.
